What do you get if you add another wing to an established performer like the Topaz? The fabulous 'ARIES' of course!
The main advantage of a biplane design is the additional lift provided without an undue weight penalty. There is a further advantage in this design, as it will remain airborne at slower speed and hence increase flight times.
Construction is 'stick and tissue', just like the Topaz, but the ARIES just needs you to build twice as many wings! Both wings remain 'knock off' for damage limitation and need no special jigging so common in other biplane designs.
Care must be taken when Dope taughtening the wings so as not to introduce 'warps' but this is actually a lot simpler than it sounds. Once you've learnt the doping technique it will serve you well as you build bigger and better models (West Wings of course!)
A good all-round model for 'weekend' flying that has character and style in abundance.
